Article I – Name
The name of this organization shall be the Woburn Women’s Golf Association.
Article II – Purpose
The purpose of this Association is to promote competitive golf in a friendly, welcoming, and supportive atmosphere where good sportsmanship, general knowledge of rules of play, and proper golf etiquette are expected and encouraged. Several social events will be held each year to promote friendship and camaraderie among golfers. Weekly tournaments will be played in accordance with the USGA rules except as modified by the local and league rules of the course.
Article III – Membership
Membership is open to all women golfers who have a USGA handicap for 18 holes. The WWGA Board reserves the right to restrict membership to an acceptable number for league management and cordiality.
Article IV – Code of Conduct
Golf is a game of integrity and honesty and as such all members are expected to observe all USGA and local course rules as well as league rules and scoring standards. All score cards should reflect an honest score for the round. Members should not sign or attest to a card that does not represent an accurate score.
The WWGA strives to maintain a climate of mutual respect, dignity, inclusivity, integrity, and compassion. We expect all members to adhere to these community values. Engaging in conduct that is contradictory to these values, such as disparaging racial/ethnic comments, using profanity or other intimidating actions that are directed at any of our members, will not be tolerated and are grounds for removal from the WWGA membership. If a situation arises, the Board will investigate and may result in a written warning and/or possible removal. Subsequent verified infractions will result in suspension or removal from the league.
Article V – Association
- The Board shall consist of the following officers: the Chair and Co-Chair, Secretary, Treasurer, and all officers of the standing committees.

Membership Ringers Rules - The immediate past Chair or Co-Chair of the Board may serve on the board for two or more years after her term expires.
- In the event a vacancy of office occurs, that office shall be filled by an appointment by the Board.
Article VI – Finances
- All dues, tournament fees, etc., shall be spent on functions, awards and expenses that directly benefit the members of the Association, at the discretion of the Board.
- Dues are to be reviewed and set by the Board on an annual basis and are due and payable on or before April 1 of each year.
Article VII – Meetings
- Board meetings may be called at the discretion of the Chair or Co-Chair. All Board members are expected to attend. Attendance by two thirds of the Board shall constitute a quorum.
- The Chair of special tournaments will be requested to attend Board meetings prior to their specific tournaments.
- One general meeting shall be held for the membership annually.
Article VIII – Tournaments
- Starting in April and ending in October, regular tournaments will be held every Tuesday morning.
a. A sign-up sheet will be posted one week prior to each weekly tournament. When a special tournament is to be held in lieu of the regular tournament, appropriate announcements will be made.
b. A tournament fee must be paid by all members in the weekly tournaments. The Board will establish the fee.
B. The Senior Tournament, Club Championship and President’s Cup participation requires a member to have played three current year tournaments. “Member-Guest” tournaments will be played at 90% handicap. “Member-Member” tournaments will be played at 100% handicap.
a. A member of the Woburn Women’s Golf Association cannot be considered as a guest at the association’s “Member-Guest” tournament.
